Junior Barristers - Town Hall meeting

Attention all Personal Injury Barristers Under 7 Years in Practice 

Please join us for a Town Hall Meeting and Social at 

Gatehouse Chambers, 1 Lady Hale Gate, Gray’s Inn, London WC1X 8BS 

Tuesday 20 September at 5.30pm to 8.00pm 

The Personal Injuries Bar Association (PIBA) would like to invite you to an informal get together of junior PI practitioners. You do not need to be a member of PIBA to attend.  

Come and learn about what PIBA is and what it can do for you. Discuss the issues affecting the Junior PI bar and how things might be improved. Have a drink and a chat with your junior colleagues at the PI bar.  

PIBA provides regular training on all sort of topics: Ogden Tables, Pension Claims, Part 35 questions, Experts in various fields, Life Expectancy, Credit Hire, Fatal Accident Claims, Inquests…  

PIBA advocates on your behalf on the issues affecting you: Fixed costs, hearings vacated at the last minute, block bookings…  

There will be an introduction from Carin Hunt and Helena Drage (co-chairs of the PIBA Junior Sub-Committee) followed by quick briefings from Elizabeth Gallagher (PIBA Minute Secretary, member of the Bar Council Remuneration Committee and Wellbeing at the Bar Working Group) and Michael Harwood (Vice Chair Young Barrister’s Committee, Bar Council).  

Then, we want to hear from you! 

• What are your concerns in practice? 
• Are there gaps in your knowledge? 
• Would you be interested in mentoring? 
• Is your wellbeing supported? 
• Do you know where to go to for funds for professional development?
• Do you have access to a support network at the PI Bar? 
• How can PIBA help?

This will be an informal conversation. We want to understand the issues affecting the junior PI bar so that we can do what we can to help. Feel free to raise whatever you would like.  

Drinks and nibbles will be available throughout. The session will end around 6.45pm with a chance to socialise and meet other juniors on the Gatehouse roof terrace after.
