PIBA Annual Conference 2025
We are very happy to announce that the next PIBA Annual Conference will take place on 21-23 March 2025.
Please note that the event will take place at Keble College, Oxford.

If you are booking as an individual please see below for prices and booking rules, including an early bird discount.
If you are booking as a group then there is a further early bird group discount. The booking form with details can be found here. If anyone has any accessibility requirements within your group, please indicate so on the booking form.

The Conference
The 2025 Annual Conference is planned to assist you with your personal CPD plan, 'reflection' and achievements. It is also a wonderful chance to catch up with other members of the PI Bar.
The programme is packed with topics which will be delivered in a variety of sessions, including those specifically aimed at senior / junior levels of call.
Topics include:
- Keynote speaker – Sir Brian Langstaff
- Cycle helmets and contributory negligence
- Validity tests and credibility opinions
- Appeals advocacy
- Paediatric SCI
- Surveillance for juniors
- Catastrophic injuries involving children
- Amputation claims from both sides
- Exploring vicarious trauma at the PI Bar
- Pro bono and practice development
- Introduction to pension loss
- Bar Mutual and Insurance
- Capacity
- Advanced drafting – including Peters undertaking and reverse indemnities
- An introduction to provisional damages
- Junior Town Hall
- A View from the Bench
- Equality Diversity and Inclusion at the PI Bar
Alongside the talks there will also be advocacy workshops for juniors under 10 years call on cross examination of experts and schedules workshops for juniors under 10 years call.
We will be running another mini mentoring scheme on the Saturday night, with no lasting commitment other than a 15 minute conversation over drinks, if you want to opt out please do say so when booking.
Please note that there will be NO PARKING at Keble College.

The price includes an electronic bundle which will be sent to you before the event. If you require a paper bundle, there is an additional charge of £20 per person.
Please also note that call is by year at the date of booking, not by month within the year (in the same way that we all advertise ourselves as called in a particular year, not a particular month!). We work on a membership year, so 'Under 3 Years' call is call in or after 2022 etc.
If you're interested in attending the conference but are struggling to make the whole event due to childcare or other caring commitments, please do get in touch as there are a limited number of day rate tickets available.

Only 4 options should be open to you: depending on whether you are coming for 1 night or 2 nights; and depending on whether you want a paper bundle or not. Please choose carefully. If you feel the wrong ones are available, please email Jo Davies.
