London Seminar - Consent following Montgomery
The PIBA 2016 London Seminar Series continues with "Obtaining Valid Consent after the Supreme Court’s decision in Montgomery: A Surgeon’s Perspective.”
The seminar will be delivered by William Gallagher BA GDL BMBS MRCS, a Surgeon at Homerton University Hospital. This will be a valuable perspective on consent, given that William is a practising surgeon with a law degree and a keen interest in the medico-legal cross-over. William has observed that, "most surgeons are unaware of Montgomery". He will touch on how consent is taught and applied in clinical practice and how things have changed (or not!) since Montgomery and the medico-legal ramifications.
There will be a brief introduction at the start of the seminar on Montgomery by Dr Maggie Bloom, Barrister at Hardwicke (and formerly a GP).
Free to PIBA members and their pupils. No need to book. 1 hour of CPD accreditation (provider number 1728). The seminar will be followed by light refreshments.
