PIBA Annual Richard Davies Lecture 2020

The 2020 Lecture will be given by 

Justice John Basten, member of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of New South Wales

who will speak on the subject of 

“Personal injuries damages for loss of a chance”

We are very excited to have Justice Basten speaking for us. He is currently a member of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, a position to which he was appointed in May 2005.  He obtained an LLB (Hons, 1st) from the University of Adelaide and a BCL at Magdalen College, Oxford.  He was a Bigelow Teaching Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, and taught for several years at the University of New South Wales Law School, before 23 years in practice at the Sydney Bar.  He took silk in December 1992.  From October 2010 to March 2011 he was a Robert S Campbell Visiting Fellow at Magdalen College, Oxford.
